The Belarusian Healthcare Ministry together with the Russian Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) is conducting a study of herd immunity against COVID-19 in Belarus.

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with senior members of the Constitutional Commission of Belarus on 13 May, BelTA has learned.

As of 1 May 2021, 98,561 deposit accounts were opened for large families under Belarus' family capital program, 16,182 of which were opened under the new program for 2020-2024, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Labor and Social Security Ministry.

Victory Day celebrations in Vitebsk

A solemn procession went from Lenina Square to Pobedy Square where flowers were laid at a monument in honor of Soviet soldiers, partisans, and underground resistance fighters of Vitebsk Oblast as part of the celebration of Victory Day in Vitebsk on 9 May.

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko presented state awards to Belarusians who distinguished themselves in various fields of expertise, BelTA has learned.

On 6 May, Vitebsk State Medical University hosted a ceremony to unveil a commemorative plaque for Sergei Belov, holder of the USSR State Prize, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, PhD of Medicine, colonel of the medical corps, holder of the Order of the Red Star and Order of the Great Patriotic War 1st Class.

Belarus and Russia are close to creating an economic platform of the Union State, Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Vladimir Semashko told the media after a ceremony to lay a wreath on behalf of the embassy to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow on 6 May, BelTA has learned.

As of early May 2021, more than 400,000 people signed up in healthcare organizations of the country to get a vaccine against the coronavirus, said Irina Glinskaya, the deputy chief physician of the National Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health, BelTA has learned.
