Belarus kicks off reforestation campaign

Belarus joins the celebration of the International Day of Forests and launches the forest restoration campaign entitled Bringing Forests Back to Life, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Forestry Ministry. 

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to the presidents of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan as the countries celebrate Nowruz, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

Head of the Department for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus (Gosatomnadzor) Olga Lugovskaya presented Belarus’ eighth national report on the implementation of the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management since 2021 at the eighth meeting of contracting parties to review compliance with the convention held at the IAEA Headquarters in Vienna, Gosatomnadzor told BelTA.

The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko will be held on 25 March, BelTA learned from the Central Election Commission.

Belarus launches e-visa service on 20 March

E-visa service will be available on the E-Pasluga website starting 20 March, Svetlana Karanevich, the head of the e-commerce department at the National Center for Electronic Services (NCES), said at a press conference, BelTA learned. 

Last December, Belarus and Russia concluded an interstate treaty on security guarantees within the framework of the Union State. It was signed by Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin. The countries did not delay the ratification of the document. In March the treaty came into force as the heads of state exchanged the instruments of ratification during the official visit of the Belarusian president to Russia. Why did the two countries sign the treaty only now and what obligations does it impose on the parties? Who will be protected by the “nuclear umbrella”? Who will have the “red button” and how will Belarus and Russia counter sanctions and respond to threats and aggression? We are working on new tourist routes across the regions of Belarus, Director of the National Tourism Agency of Belarus Dmitry Morozov said in an interview with BelTA.
