Lukashenko: Belarus is interested in resuming equitable political dialogue with Bulgaria

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has extended greetings to the people of Bulgaria as the country celebrates Liberation Day on 3 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“Since ancient times our countries have been united by Slavic traditions, common spiritual values, Orthodoxy and Cyrillic. Belarusians were among those who fought for the liberation of Bulgaria and its independence during World War II. Although Belarus and Bulgaria have chosen different ways of development and different alliances, our cooperation has always been constructive, based on the principles of trust and respect,” the message of greetings reads. “I am confident that the unfavorable political state of affairs will not be able to break the spirit of friendship and the numerous ties between Belarusians and Bulgarians.”

The head of state has stressed that Minsk is always interested in resuming equatable political dialogue with Sofia, expanding trade and economic cooperation, contacts between the regions, joint scientific, educational and humanitarian activities.

Aleksandr Lukashenko has wished the friendly Bulgarian people peace, prosperity, wellbeing and fruitful work for the benefit of their Motherland.
