Belarus' humanitarian cargo arrives in Syria

Belarus' humanitarian cargo has reached Syria, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The humanitarian aid includes medicines, basic necessities and clothing. The Emergencies Ministry has provided food, tents, blankets and hygiene products from the state reserve, the Healthcare Ministry enterprises have shipped medicines, medical gloves and bandages, disinfectants. The Belarusian light industry concern Bellegprom has provided warm adult and children's clothing, and the Belarus President Property Management Directorate has provided sleeping bags. The Belarusian Union of Women and the Belarusian Red Cross have collected basic necessities. The total weight of the cargo is 25 tonnes.

The humanitarian cargo was delivered to the Syrian airport of Latakia by the Defense Ministry aircraft. It was accompanied by a delegation of the Emergencies Ministry led by First Deputy Emergencies Minister Aleksandr Khudoleyev.

Belarus provides humanitarian aid to Syria on a regular basis. Six batches of Belarusian humanitarian aid were transported to Syria from 2015 to 2022: baby food, food products, medicines, medical equipment, children's clothes and shoes, and also MAZ vehicles. According to Aleksandr Khudoleyev, since 1999 Belarus has provided humanitarian assistance to 33 countries 80 times.
