Lukashenko: Constitution is being made for Belarusian people

28.09.2021

In Belarus, the Constitution is being made for Belarusian people, President Aleksandr Lukashenko of Belarus said as he took part in the extended session of the Constitutional Commission on 28 September, BelTA has learned.

“When you work on the draft of the Constitution, think about your children. They will live with it, and we are still not going to die. Therefore, think about your children,” the head of state said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that in the process of amending the Constitution it is essential to answer to major questions: why it is done and who needs it. According to the head of state, no one should say that this is unnecessary. “We must improve the Constriction regardless of how good it is now. There is always room for perfection,” the president said.

“The time is different, and the situation is different,” the Belarusian leader said.

According to the president, specialists working on the new Constitution must take into account the lessons of the last year's events when opponents basically tried to ruin the country. “After 2020, we realize that they should not come to power. They will eliminate not only us. It's part of the trouble… They will destroy the country! Therefore, the new Constitution should take these nuances into account. It will be related to administration bodies, their powers and functions,” the president said.
