“The EAEU, together with the governments of the member states, has been implementing the strategic development program of the Eurasian economic integration through 2025, approved by the heads of state in December 2020. The 2025 strategy pays much attention to the social aspects closely related to the Sustainable Development Goals,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.
He stressed that new areas of economic cooperation in education, science, healthcare, tourism and sports are included in the integration agenda.
“The coronavirus crisis has aggravated many problems of mankind, and in some cases it has actually thrown back some of the achievements of past years,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said. “At the same time, we have gained substantial experience in managing resources and securing sufficient medical supplies, medical products, crucial industrial and food products for personal use, manufacturing, and foreign trade,” he added.
According to Mikhail Myasnikovich, the Eurasian Economic Commission has been working to mitigate the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Sanitary and epidemiological agencies of the EAEU member states have joined efforts to reach and execute untypical decisions to protect the population and ensure operation of the social sector and economy.
