“As for the international agenda and our approaches and views, I believe we are absolutely aligned here. We see the development of our world in the same way. We support multipolarity. We want new countries, including those that emerged after the collapse of the [Soviet] Union, to be sovereign and independent. You know this very well, and so does your president,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The Belarusian leader also acknowledged Kazakhstan’s significant role in Belarus’ accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a full member. “You’ve been a great help to us. I primarily addressed my Kazakhstani friends. They not only supported us but also encouraged other countries to do the same,” he said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko went on saying: “We are very grateful to you, and we remember very well that both Kazakhstan and Belarus are members of a number of international organizations, from regional ones like the EAEU, the CSTO, and the CIS, to the global United Nations. We are present together where we need to be, where our interests are concentrated. This speaks to our shared approaches to resolving various global and regional issues,” the president concluded.
