The 46th BRSM Congress is co-located with the exhibition "Komsomol Chronicle: 1920-2025", the centerpiece of which was a photo exhibition by the Belarusian news agency BelTA featuring 20 photographic works. The photographs, taken by the established photographers, reveal the continuity of generations of young activists: from the first Komsomol members to representatives of the modern youth organization.
The photo series opens with a memorable photograph capturing the participants of the second Belarusian Komsomol Congress dated 1921. It depicts the people who laid the foundation for the Komsomol movement. The exhibition introduces the ordinary Komsomol members: young workers from the Kommunarka confectionery factory, girls working at the MAZ plant construction site, tractor drivers from Ruzhany District, Brest Oblast and young people heading to the virgin lands to help with the harvest. The joy of labor victories, moments of cheer during concerts and moments of making important decisions at congresses… All indicate that young people have always remained a vital participant in the life of the country.
The black-and-white journey into history is followed by color footage from the modern history of the youth movement featuring volunteers from the Kind Heart movement, builders of the first Belarusian nuclear power plant in Ostrovets, and young machine builders.
Minsk resident Lidiya Litvinovich recalled how in 1954, as a very young girl, she joined a student work brigade and traveled to the Urals. “Our guys built agricultural facilities in a remote village, and I worked as a cook's assistant. It was a real school of life, an amazing experience, and a great joy of communication. It has stayed in my memory for my entire life,” Lidiya Litvinovich remarked.
She noted that the country is raising a wonderful young generation, which also has a sense of patriotism. According to the veteran, this sentiment should be reinforced with truthful stories about life.
Elizaveta Zagurskaya heads the district committee of the BRSM Youth Union in Postavy, Vitebsk Oblast. “The exhibition is touching because I served as a commissar of a student work brigade at Polotsk State University. Specifically, our brigade worked on a big construction project - the nuclear power plant in Ostrovets. As part of the brigade, I traveled to Russia: we worked in Kuzbass. It was amazing because the student brigade gives you the opportunity to try yourself in completely different fields and professions. That's why I see these happy faces in the photographs and fully share their emotions," Elizaveta said.
Pavel Randovtsev, an activist of the Belarusian Railway youth movement who works as a signaling and communications dispatcher, noted that the older generation of his family were also part of the Komsomol. “We strive to keep up with our predecessors. Young people have plenty of energy. We have a strong desire to contribute to the country's major construction projects. So I must say, the future of Belarus is in reliable hands,” Pavel emphasized.
