Lukashenko highlights importance of military training, exercises

By conducting the planned Belarusian-Russian exercise Zapad 2025, Belarus is not threatening anyone; it is training its military so they are skilled in everything, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at an awards ceremony in Minsk on 16 September, BelTA has learned.

“The exercise that is currently running in Belarus is a routine drill. It is a Belarusian-Russian exercise. And we are practicing everything there. They know it too, we are not hiding it. Starting from conventional firearms to nuclear warheads. Again, we must be able to do all this. Otherwise, what is the point of having it on the territory of Belarus. But we are by no means going to threaten anyone with this.”

“If someone needs to justify their actions (the deranged people living nearby) well, that's their problem, let them deceive their own people. But that will only last for a time. As I said, the Poles, Lithuanians, and Latvians are smart people; they will figure out what the real problems are. Just like the Ukrainians figured it out, by the way. We have fewer problems with them now, even though there is a war going on there,” Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked.

The president, in this regard, addressed the military personnel: “Stay alert at all times. Today, fortunately, the Russians can do a lot. Unfortunately, because of the war. They are ready to teach us their skills free of charge. We must learn. If we want to live, we must be capable of everything. This is me speaking as a military man to military personnel.”
