Attendees at the meeting analyzed evolving drug trends across the CSTO’s area of responsibility. They exchanged statistical data and other information about drug abuse and its fatal consequences, with a specific focus on the youth population. The press service noted that the delegation examined the draft CSTO Anti-Drug Strategy for 2026-2030, assessed its progress toward finalization, and reviewed a draft statement by the CSTO Collective Security Council “Strengthening cooperation in combating drug trafficking”. The strategy is being prepared for adoption at the next session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
The parties agreed that combating drug trafficking requires stronger international and interagency cooperation. They also shared best practices on treating and rehabilitating drug addicts, discussed new laws on treatment of drug abuse, and addressed challenges in screening for substance use, motivational counseling, and anti-drug education programs.
The event was attended by the heads of narcological services of the CSTO member states, relevant units of the ministries of education, internal affairs of the CSTO countries, and employees of specialized international organizations.
