Around 600 cooperation agreements in place between regions of Belarus, Russia

There are currently nearly 600 cooperation agreements in effect between regions of Belarus and Russia, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said, BelTA has learned.

“Around 600 agreements are currently in effect between the regions of the Republic of Belarus and the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in such areas as trade, economy, social and humanitarian affairs, science, and culture. These include 157 [agreements to establish] sister-city partnerships,” Natalya Kochanova stressed. “We are open to cooperation with all regions of the Russian Federation (I am speaking for our governors). Because the challenges we face today can be addressed more effectively through joint efforts.”

A meeting between Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova and Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko, as well as heads of regional and federal authorities from both countries, is taking place on the sidelines of the 12th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Nizhny Novgorod.
