The delegation of Kyrgyzstan comprised Bakyt Sharapov, deputy director of the service for veterinary, breeding livestock, pastures and fodder under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, and representatives of the country's agricultural sector. The representatives of Kyrgyzstan studied the work of Belarusian enterprises and organizations of the agro-industrial complex, took part in business meetings and negotiations.
In 2024, the trade in food products and agricultural raw materials between Belarus and Kyrgyzstan increased by 8.9% as against the previous year, with exports going up 19.7%. According to the Agriculture and Food Ministry, growth was recorded in almost all key areas: meat and dairy products (beef, poultry, butter, cheese), malt, fish products. The range of exports also expanded, with Belarus launching shipments of whole milk powder, beef semi-finished products, and starch to Kyrgyzstan.
The Agriculture and Food Ministry considers the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Belplemzhivobedinenie and the Department of Breeding Livestock Breeding of Kyrgyzstan as one of the important events of the Kyrgyz delegation's visit to Belarus, which took place within the framework of the forum. It opens up new opportunities for joint work in the development of livestock breeding. The parties also noted the intensification of cooperation in veterinary medicine and agricultural education.
In the future in the agro-industrial sector, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan intend to increase bilateral trade in the agro-industrial sector, and expand the range of supplies, develop relations in agricultural education and science, deepen partnership in livestock breeding and veterinary medicine, and continue participation in joint exhibitions and fairs.
According to the Agriculture and Food Ministry, the meeting was held in a constructive and informative atmosphere and became an important step towards strengthening trade, economic, scientific and technical ties between Belarus and Kyrgyzstan in the agricultural sector.
