The Belarusian organizing committee was kick-started by Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova on 10 February, the vice-speaker said. “In accordance with the instructions given by the Speaker, we have been working in a systemic way to ensure security and safety, medical support, catering and transfer,” he stressed.
Sergei Khomenko recalled that education institutions are selecting future participants of the Memory Train in the framework of the contest “I am a patriot of my country”.
As part of the project, high school students from Belarus, Russia and CIS countries annually make a two-week trip on a special train to cities and places connected with the history of the Great Patriotic War. The route and program of the event change every year. In 2022, the project featured 100 schoolchildren from Belarus and Russia, in 2023 - 70 participants from Belarus, 90 from Russia, 20 each from Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.
In 2024 Memory Train brought together 200 participants from Belarus, Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The children visited 13 cities, spent 14 days on the train, covered 9,316 kilometers of the route.In 2025 the Memory Train will be timed to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
