Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has suggested holding a large meeting of Eurasian regional organizations in Belarus as he addressed the CSTO summit in Astana on 28 November, BelTA has learned.

The president considers it important to strengthen the interaction between international organizations working in Eurasia. “In this regard, I propose to think about organizing a meeting of senior officials of the regional organizations of ASEAN, the CSTO, the SCO, the CIS, the CICA, and the Gulf Cooperation Council," he said.

The president noted that the leadership of the CSTO, the CIS and the SCO have already developed a proven mechanism of regular meetings. "Why not try to expand this format in order to share unique interregional experience? We are open to holding this meeting in Belarus in case of your agreement," Aleksandr Lukashenko.

"Such meetings could also discuss the ways of intensifying cooperation between the CSTO and the SCO on international security issues in line with the decision of the Collective Security Council to develop cooperation between the CSTO and the CIS and the SCO. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization has an extensive agenda on ensuring security in the Eurasian space, and this potential can be used," the president added.
