Belarus invariably confirms its status of a strong, peace-loving, friendly state, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said at the opening of the 4th Eurasian Women's Forum in St. Petersburg on 18 September, BelTA has learned.

“The year 2024 is marked by an array of important events in the life of the Belarusian people and our country. A single voting day was held for the first time. Those were the parliamentary elections. The first session of the 7th Belarusian People's Congress, in its new constitutional status, was a success. This year we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus and the institution of presidency, the 80th anniversary of Belarus' liberation from the Nazis,” Natalya Kochanova said. “The most important achievement of the Belarusian people is the building of our sovereign and independent country during a rather short (from the historical point of view) period under the wise and far-sighted leadership of the president of our country. We have built a fair-minded, truly people's country which invariably confirms its status of a strong, peace-loving, and friendly state with a responsible and predictable foreign policy.”

Contrary to biased assessments, Belarus is successfully developing and can rightfully serve as an example to many other countries, the speaker said. “The country’s high positions in international rankings testify to the fact. Belarus ranks 34th among 166 countries in the Sustainable Development Goals Index, 61st among 169 - in the Social Development Index, 69th among 193 - in the Global Human Development Index. Belarus also ranks 35th among 175 countries in the rating of the countries with the highest childhood life satisfaction, and the 25th position in the rating of the most comfortable countries for motherhood,” the chairperson of the Council of the Republic said.
