Governor: Cooperation between Volgograd Oblast, Belarus relies on fraternal ties

08.07.2024

Cooperation between Russia’s Volgograd Oblast and Belarus is underpinned by fraternal relations, Volgograd Oblast Governor Andrei Bocharov told the Belarus 1 TV channel.

“Cooperation between Volgograd Oblast and Belarus relies primarily on our brotherly relationships. This serves as a strong foundation for all our projects, including the supply of Belarus’ modern equipment to Volgograd Oblast. This machinery is quite good, therefore it is in demand. I also want to praise the quality of products for the agricultural industry, including combines and tractors. A number of very serious cooperation issues have recently been discussed with the Belarusian prime minister and the ambassador who is now the head of the Belarus President Administration. We congratulate him on this appointment, by the way. We have strategized and brainstormed a lot to thrash out cooperation plans. A key element of our cooperation is the establishment of joint ventures in the manufacturing industry. This cooperation avenue holds a lot of promise and we should prioritize it with our Belarusian friends and partners,” Andrei Bocharov said.

He noted that some elements of this kind of cooperation have already been put into practice. “For example, our Volgabus manufacturer is one of Russia’s leading bus producers. We purchase some of products and component parts from Belarusian partners and friends, as they meet the highest quality standards. This is very important for us. A number of vehicles have been supplied to Belarus, including electric and gas-powered vehicles. In addition, we are in talks on a large-scale modernization program of Belarusian enterprises that operate on environmentally friendly fuels, such as gas and electric. fuel. This work is ongoing. We also see good prospects in the machine tool industry. We know that this industry is in quite good shape in Belarus, which allows us to implement a number of joint projects. But we should go beyond the manufacturing industry. We should not neglect such areas as culture, education, and preservation of our common historical heritage. We have recently welcomed the “Victory Train”. Children, including those from Belarus, visited all our memorable places, and children from Russia and Volgograd Oblast toured Belarus. We also discussed the exchange of high school students with the head of government and our partners from Vitebsk Oblast (this region is actively involved in this project). Based on our agreements with the country's leadership, we would like to set up such a logistics complex that would facilitate not only production or sale of products, but also the exchange of visits between residents of Volgograd Oblast and Belarus. All these proposals were written down in the roadmap that has recently been signed at the Forum of Regions in Vitebsk,” the governor informed.
