Belarus-China educational partnerships discussed in Shanghai

Representatives of Belarus’ Consulate General in Shanghai have met with Director of the Center for Belarusian Studies at East China Normal University Professor Bei Wenli and  Head of regional international projects Wu Shuangli, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Shanghai.

Belarus’ Consul General Andrei Andreyev and Vice Consul Olga Krivets discussed with the Chinese side joint events to be held in Shanghai in 2024, including courses for representatives of the SCO countries. In addition to that, they considered possibilities for expanding research, expert and educational cooperation between the Center for Belarusian Studies and the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research, the Confucius National Institute of Chinese Studies at Belarusian State University, Belarusian State Pedagogical University and other Belarusian institutions. Much attention was paid to establishing partnerships between the center and the Belarusian Writers’ Union and the State Museum of the Belarusian Literature History. This will help introduce the Chinese to Belarus’ cultural and historical heritage.

As Belarus was marking another anniversary of the Khatyn tragedy, Andrei Andreyev informed in detail the head of the Center for Belarusian Studies about Belarus’ consistent efforts to fight extremism, prevent the rehabilitation of Nazism and preserve historical memory, and also donated the publication prepared by BelTA and Belarus’ Justice Ministry “Archives. Nothing but the truth.”
