The protocol grants additional powers to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. The council will be able to determine general principles for incorporating the responsibility for violating mandatory requirements for products into the legislation of the EAEU member states. The protocol also addresses the procedure for applying for observer status in the union, the procedure for the EAEU states to introduce emergency phytosanitary measures, and the development of a joint action program in the sphere of protection of consumer rights.
The head of state also signed the law on ratifying the protocol on amending the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty in regard to the realization of joint manufacturing cooperation projects. It allows the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission to make decisions on granting financial support to projects at the expense of the union budget.
