Belarus, UAE to cooperate in law enforcement

Belarus and the UAE will cooperate in law enforcement, BelTA learned from the official Telegram channel of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the ministry, Belarusian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov met with UAE Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Interior Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During the meeting, the ministers of the two states signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of security and countering terrorism and a memorandum of understanding on the mutual recognition and exchange of driver's licenses. The parties also signed an agreement on partnership in other relevant areas of law enforcement of mutual interest.

During the dialogue, Ivan Kubrakov noted that Belarus' foreign policy is traditionally focused on close constructive cooperation with the countries of the Middle East. He noted that the two countries share similar approaches to solving international problems. According to the head of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the states have enormous potential for developing cooperation on all topical issues, including in ensuring security and law and order.

According to Ivan Kubrakov, the visit is a great opportunity to learn more about the UAE's experience in combating crime. He also emphasized that the UAE has a very low crime rate, despite the significant influx of immigrants and the ethnic and cultural diversity of the country.
