Belarus discussed cooperation in combating drug-related crimes with European countries, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Internal Affairs Ministry.

Albania is hosting the 15th meeting of the heads of national drug enforcement agencies of Europe on 20-22 June. The Belarusian delegation is led by Head of the Main Department of Drug Control and Anti-Trafficking Oleg Silvestrovich. The event participants are discussing regional and sub-regional cooperation in combating drug trafficking.

The head of the Belarusian delegation stressed that today the drug market was integrated into the virtual space. One of the key conditions for successful counteraction to such crimes is to conduct joint activities and operations. They should be aimed at identifying the organizers and owners of illegal drug online stores, as well as active members of criminal networks.

Oleg Silvestrovich believes that this will not only have a significant impact on the operational situation but will also help destroy the established patterns of cross-border drug business. In addition, it will provide an opportunity to eliminate the existing supply channels of drugs, precursors and criminal financial flows.
