Days of Vietnam start in Minsk

The Days of Vietnam kicked off at the House of Friendship in Minsk on the evening of 15 April, BelTA has learned.

According to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Belarus Nguyen Van Ngu, the Days of Vietnam offer an opportunity for the attendees to learn more about Vietnamese culture and traditions. In general, the program of the Days of Vietnam includes Belarus-Vietnam public diplomacy meetings with the participation of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, as well as a round table organized by Vietnam’s Embassy for various Belarusian ministries and departments involved in promoting bilateral trade and economic contacts.

According to the diplomat, much attention will also be paid to the celebration of the Great Victory in Belarus and Victory Day in Vietnam.

During the Days of Vietnam, Belarusians will be able to learn more about Vietnam’s fight for independence. The ambassador emphasized that the meetings will be held in cooperation with the Belarusian Society for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries.

The chair of this society, Nina Ivanova, emphasized the significance of the Victory for the Vietnamese people who fought for freedom for decades. She also highlighted the cultural diversity of Vietnam. A member of the Belarusian Writers’ Union, poetess Irina Tulupova spoke about Vietnamese literature and Belarusian translations of works by Vietnamese writers and poets.

The host of the meeting, Yelena Vovneiko, introduced the performers that included members of the Vietnamese diaspora and students of  Glebov Children's Music School No. 10.

The guests were delighted by Vietnamese songs, music, poetry and dances, in particular the dance with bamboo and a fashion show of Vietnamese traditional clothing. Bright national outfits, melodic rhythms and an engaging atmosphere made the event truly memorable for everyone. Taking part in the event were activists of the House of Friendship, the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Society, employees of the Vietnamese Embassy in Belarus, and students.

A film about the nature and sights of Vietnam was screened and an exhibition was presented.
